“We are but men!”

Been a little blue lately, but today was better. I managed to spend a few hours at work cleaning and moving furniture about, so it was the best day at work I’ve had in awhile, despite recent suckage. Had lunch with Ai, then came home and went on a lovely bike ride with Curt after dinner. Also started watching The IT Group Crowd, which is silly and enjoyable, though it’s British, so everyone screams too much.

Went to the doctor, and my triglycerides are high. Which was predictable, since I’m pretty overweight right now. Been working out regularly and trying to eat better a little every day – eating less meat, more fruit, more fresh stuff. Now I’m going to get to bed on time. My brain is fried tonight. ;P

Friday, I’m in love

I had yummy 99ยข chicken from El Pollo Loco today. Rode there on my bike during my morning break. I enjoy riding my bike when I’m not carrying a weight like I normally do on my way to work. The bike ride does get a bit easier every day – even in 90 degree heat.

I’ve once again bought a jar of wheat germ. The thing you’ve got to know about wheat germ is that it tastes a bit like moldly sawdust. I plan on eating two tablespoons a day until it’s gone. That’s the optimist in me.

Happy weekend, all.

All at once

Whew.

The javascript course I was taking is over, and I think I did fairly well on my final project, so that’s one more thing off my plate. It was a night class, five hours every Tuesday night for six weeks, on top of work and periodic volunteering. I like being productive, but it’ll be good to relax a little bit for a few weeks before the new semester starts up. ;) And who thought semester classes were a good idea, anyway? :P

Went to the doctor on Monday. While I’m trying to convince the doctor there might really be something wrong with me, I have flashes of future vu in which I can see myself as a crazy old woman eating aspirin for breakfast and badgering young doctors into looking down my throat. Turns out it’s (most likely) the same thing I’ve been paying doctors to diagnose me with for years: hypochondria. And overweight-ness, which has not yet become anything else too terrible for me. Which still gives me time to change that. Oh, ever-dwindling youth, fail me not!

Curt and I also went for a hike this weekend, in the rain. I was happy to put our $1.25-on-clearance-at-Target rain ponchos to use, because Curt made fun of me when I bought them and that’ll show him ha ha.

I feel lucky to have the life I do, even if my pants don’t always fit right. :)

The Saturday Weigh-Down

This is the first of weekly entries that I’m going to do to chronicle my effort towards getting to a healthy weight. And eventual world domination! MWAHAHA!

Well, anyway: it appears the bathroom scale is a little off kilter (it starts at around 4-5 pounds), so I actually weighed about 183 last time I weighed myself. I get this new data from the Wii Fit, which I will choose to trust since it cost more than $5.00 at Target. Sometimes frugality gets you a piece of crap.

Wii Fit says people’s weights fluctuate approximately two pounds during the day. First weigh-in came after dinner, when I was nice and fat from yummy foods. This last weight was taken an hour or so after breakfast. I’ll start weighing myself before breakfast from now on, just to keep a steady record. Anyway, here’s the chart. I’m off!

Truth and bowling

I weight 186 pounds. In my adult life, I have been a size 2. I’ve also been a size 20. My weight has bounced up and down pretty much ever since puberty. While many of my counterparts chose partying, alcohol, drugs, sex or shopping to dull pains in their lives, I have always used food. When I’m stressed, I eat. When I’m sad, I eat. When Curt and I get in a fight, I eat. When I’m bored, I eat.

It’s time to make a good try to lose this weight. So, using my l33t Excel skills and track my weight every week, and post a weekly chart! Yay, weight loss is fun!

(It’s always all fun and games until my stomach starts to shrink and it feels like an alien is trying to gnaw its way out of my body.)

Anyway, so this last weekend was my sister’s and my grandfather’s birthdays! We went bowling for the sister’s birthday, and out to dinner for grandfather’s.

Curt and me at the bowling alley.

Brother Wonk and his wife, Sister Powla.

Future brother-in-law Jason.

Sister Piggy, Brother Truc, Brother Vuong, and Sister Powla.

Carter, my grandfather’s cat.

My grandfather, blowing out the candles on his birthday cake. He turned 88!

A whole bunch of Hoangs.
